Goliath Ventures, run by founder Christopher Delgado, told investors from January 2023 to January 2026 that their money would earn 3% to 10% a month from crypto "liquidity pools", with principal guaranteed. The SEC says it raised at least $425 million from more than 1,300 investors; the CFTC says about 1,600 customers put in at least $397 million. According to the regulators, no money went into liquidity pools: returns came from new investors' funds, and Delgado took at least $51 million for homes, luxury vehicles, a yacht and travel. Payouts stopped in November 2025.
Delgado pleaded guilty to federal criminal charges in June 2026 and is due to be sentenced on January 28, 2027. On August 11, 2026, the SEC and CFTC filed civil suits in federal court in Florida, and Delgado agreed to settle the SEC case. A court has ordered seven properties and several vehicles bought with investor money forfeited, and they are being sold to recover funds.
