Grubhub: FTC sends $23.8 million in refunds to drivers and diners

In December 2024, the Federal Trade Commission and the Illinois Attorney General charged Grubhub with deceiving delivery drivers and diners. According to the complaint, ads in the New York area said drivers could make up to $40 an hour when median pay there was about $10, and junk fees often made a diner's final price more than double the advertised one. The regulators also alleged that Grubhub blocked accounts holding gift card balances without warning.
